But the most common problem with them is that they lose their shine or get tarnished very fast if they are not in regular use. Take a bowl and border it with aluminium foil. Put some hot water into it and mix one tablespoon of liquid detergent in it. Stir it well and then put your silver jewelry one by one inside the bowl. Wait for a few minutes to let them soak the water mixture. Then carefully take them out using kitchen tongs and wash them in warm water. Finally, keep them over a towel to let them dry. Hurray! You are all set to wear them again.
If you want to get back the shine of your silver jewelry, simply mix some cornflour with water and make a thick paste of it. Apply it on the jewelry and let them dry. After that, rub the jewelry with a soft toothbrush or a towel and wash them off in warm water.
This method is the most suitable if you have stubborn tarnishes on your silver jewelry. Apply a layer of baking soda mixed with warm water on the tarnished spots of your jewelry. Leave for 5 minutes and then softly rub with a dampen towel or toothbrush. Wash them in water and let them dry to wear them again.
If your silver jewelry is a little tarnished and you want its shine back, this method is perfect for that. Take a bowl and put some lemon-lime soda in it. Dip your jewelry and let them soak for around one hour. Then, take them out, wash them with water and dry them using a cloth.
This method is best if you have less jewelry to clean. You just have to take some ketchup in a paper towel and rub it on the jewelry or you can directly put ketchup over the silver surface and leave them for at least 10-15 minutes. Then, clean them with a very soft cloth or brush and wash them with water.
Take some toothpaste on a soft cloth or toothbrush and gently rub on the jewelry. Leave it for some minutes, wash it off with water and you are done. Make sure the toothpaste is not of gel texture or harsh.
Keep your silver jewelry in a bowl and add one cup of distilled white vinegar. Then put four tablespoons of baking soda and leave it to rest for a minimum of one hour. Finally, rinse with clear water and dry them up with a soft cloth.
This method is only useful for your silver rings. Put some hand sanitizer on a paper towel and rub it on the ring softly and you are done. Your ring will be tarnish free but be careful- do not use it if your ring has expensive gems on it as sanitizer may damage it.
Make a mixture using two portions of water and one portion of ammonia. Soak your silver jewelry for 10-15 minutes and then wipe them with a soft towel. Ensure you do not use this method on antique jewelry.
