The Met Gala, the pinnacle of high fashion, is upon us! This year’s co-chairs, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, and Jennifer Lopez, promise a night of stunning looks inspired by the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit. But one name missing from the physical guest list has fans buzzing about Taylor Swift.
Despite whispers of her attendance, it seems Taylor Swift will be giving the Met Gala a virtual red-carpet walk this year. With the European leg of her record-breaking “Eras Tour” kicking off in Paris on May 9th, just days after the gala, her focus is squarely on rehearsals and tour preparations. This is not Taylor’s first time gracing the iconic Met steps. She’s wowed audiences with six previous appearances, rocking designs from fashion powerhouses.
Adding fuel to the rumor mill was speculation of a potential power couple pairing between Taylor and NFL star Travis Kelce. Besides their recent sightings at the Super Bowl, Coachella had fans in a frenzy. However, with Taylor’s tour taking center stage, it seems a joint Met Gala debut will have to wait. Much like his rumored girlfriend, Kelce is laser-focused on his professional commitments. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is gearing up for the upcoming NFL season. Additionally, he would be leaving little room for a glamorous New York City soiree in May.
While a surprise connection between Taylor and Travis before or after the Met Gala isn’t out of the question. The Swifties will certainly have to wait a little longer to see if this rumored couple makes their official red carpet-debut.
The Met Gala, however, promises to be a star-studded affair. Expect to see A-listers embracing the “Garden of Time” dress code, inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story. Think florals, music, a touch of time travel, celebrity appearances, and much more. It will have futuristic designs and possibly wardrobe malfunctions(we don’t want that) all coming together. Not to forget we may spot quirky ensembles for a night of unforgettable fashion! One time at the Met Gala, Katy Perry shocked in a dress that wasn’t haute couture, but a juicy cheeseburger complete with a sesame seed bun and all the fixings.
